Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at anytime and be yourself.

Rebecca Strauss, LCSW (she/her/hers)

My psychotherapy practice is dedicated to helping you live the life you want to live. Together we will work on developing tools for facing difficult life choices, interpersonal problems, career dilemmas, peer and social pressures, health concerns, life transitions, depression, anxiety, or other symptoms of psychological distress.

Although I work with individuals in all stages of life, I have a special interest in working with adolescents (14+) and young adults. This is such a unique time for development and I consider it an honor to encourage one’s personal growth towards a more positive and productive transition into adulthood.

Whatever reason brings you to therapy, together we will work on identifying the source of your challenges, and use this understanding of yourself and others to navigate your world with greater confidence. Effective treatment hinges on building a therapeutic alliance that provides a safe and supportive environment in which genuine growth can emerge. It is my hope that our work together will open up new possibilities, expand your perspectives, and lead to a life that feels more vital and alive.

As an integrative psychotherapist, my work is informed by *Self Psychology, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-based practices.  I am also fascinated by the intersection of psychotherapy and neuroscience as a means to reinforce the notion that “change is possible” throughout the lifespan.

Why mindfulness? I have extensive training in the clinical application of mindfulness and enjoy applying mindfulness practices in everyday life. I teach mindfulness meditation practices as a means to train attention, manage stress without distress, and to provide a concrete path for feeling better and living life more fully.

My office is located at: 899 Skokie Blvd, Suite 342, Northbrook, IL, 60062.
